A space for connectivity and collaboration

As a top-tier national research university, we are relentless in our drive toward use-inspired discoveries, designed for impact. ISEC puts this research on display, providing several facilities, gathering spaces, and other amenities to foster interdisciplinary collaboration.

The atrium leads to classrooms, an auditorium, conference spaces, a café, and lounging areas.
The spiral staircase in the central atrium leads to five more floors of research labs.
The western facade of ISEC gives it a distinct presence on Columbus Avenue.
Lounges, study clusters, and kitchenettes encourage meetings and impromptu exchanges and collaboration.
Wet and computational laboratories are co-located, and modular—fully adaptable to each research team’s needs.

A combo for transformative innovation

The Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Complex is steps away from the new EXP building, and they’re linked by a pedestrian bridge that connects the north and south sections of the Boston campus. Together, ISEC and EXP have transformed the Columbus Avenue corridor into a cutting-edge hub for experience-driven research, learning, and collaboration.
